Welcome to On Island ("we", "our", "us"), a local business directory for the U.S. Virgin Islands operated by On Island. By accessing or using onisland.app you agree to these Terms.

1. Who can use On Island

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms.

2. Your account

Browsing the directory is free and does not require an account. To save listings, leave reviews, or report a beach you must create an account with a valid email and password. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. What we provide

On Island lets you discover local businesses, read reviews, and check the daily Island Brief (weather, tides, cruise crowds, beach conditions). The data we surface comes from third-party sources (NOAA, Open-Meteo, NDBC, USGS, AeroDataBox, CruiseMapper) and from businesses + locals who contribute. We do our best to keep it accurate but make no guarantee — verify anything safety-critical with the source.

4. Reviews and beach reports

Reviews and beach reports are user-generated content. By submitting them you grant On Island a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display them. You agree not to post anything false, defamatory, harassing, hateful, illegal, or that infringes someone else's rights. We may remove content for any reason, especially if it violates these rules or our profanity filter.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: scrape the site outside of normal browsing; impersonate another person; interfere with the service; reverse-engineer the application; use the directory to build a competing product; or use the service to violate any law.

6. Third-party services and links

The directory contains links to external sites and uses third-party services (Mapbox for maps, Stripe for payments, Resend for email, Sentry for error monitoring, Supabase for hosting). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party content.

7. No warranty

On Island is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information shown is accurate or current.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, On Island will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to USD $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

9. Termination

You can stop using On Island at any time. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if your use of the service harms us, our users, or third parties. We may also discontinue any part of the service.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use of On Island after a change means you accept the new Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the U.S. Virgin Islands, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of the USVI.
